The Shirt Dress

This week I've been participating with Elsie Marley's Kids Clothes week challenge. It's been great motivation to get some dresses made for my little girl.
Ever since Dana posted about her shirt dresses I've been wanting to make some. While at the thrift store this past week I found the perfect mens shirt for only $5. I wish I would have taken a before picture but I was too excited to start. :)

The Shirt Dress

I LOVE it! I decided to use the cuffs from the shirt as shown here. She doesn't have a tutorial for this kind of sleeve but it was pretty easy to figure out.
For the waist I used this fun yellow fabric from my mom's stash. :)
I love the blue and white with a pop of yellow.
One thing I did a little different was sew along the other side of the buttons. I didn't want to have the sides open while my daughter was playing.
My husband gave me a bunch of his dress shirts this morning to repurpose. :) You might be seeing more of these in the future. ;)
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Playdate Frock

I found the new One Yard Wonders at my local library.  I might like this book better than the first. It has different fabric categories and various patterns in each section :)
I loved the dress pattern, "The Playdate Frock."

It fits my daughter perfectly! I am really pleased with how it turned out.
My only issue was the sleeves. It was really hard to figure out. But thanks to my Mom's help I finally mastered those tricky sleeves. :)

It also has two small pockets on the front. My daughter suggested adding some buttons to the front. I think I"ll do just that. :)
