Hot Pads

Would you believe that for the 3 1/2 years I've been married I've never used hot pads? It's true. ( I like to use those glove things) The other day I decided to make some.
I love how bright and cheery this fabric is.
I quilted the entire hot pad, I love it! Don't you?
It also needed a loop so I can hang it on the wall, for easy access.
The only thing I would have done differently is used thicker batting. But other than that I LOVE them!
I used the tutorial from A pretty cool life. You really should check out her blog, I know you'll be inspired.

For the Table

I have a lime green kitchen table. It's small but works great for our tiny apartment. I wanted to make something for the table and this is what came to be. Placemats!

I found this polka dot fabric here
I'm loving the bright colors aren't you?
Pretty sweet huh?

I used the tutorial from A Pretty Cool Life, Cheryl is sure talented.

Oh Boy!

Last week I hosted a baby shower for 3 women in my neighborhood. Each of them are expecting boys in the next 2 months. For the gifts I decided to sew some rag quilt blankets. These were so fun and simple! Before I've sewn then in blocks but this time I did them in strips. It went so much faster! Each blanket took about an hour to make. I decided to get a book to go with the theme of the fabric.
One of my friends baked this cake. Amazing huh?

Have you seen those cupcake toppers? They are everywhere! But I didn't have the money to buy any. So I made my own out of scrapbook paper. I really like how they looked on top on the cupcakes.
I also made a dum dum sucker topiary. It took me a while to make it but I think it was well worth it. Don't you?
I decided to go with blue, yellow and green. For the menu we had Chicken Salad Sliders, fruit and cupcakes. Simple yet good.
I wish all the girls the best of luck and hope all continues to go well!

No Feet

Today was going to be my sewing day. I have a few projects all cut out and ready to sew. As I turned on my sewing machine I noticed my presser foot was missing. :( Lost for good, somewhere unknown. So until I get a new one all this fabric will just have to wait. *sigh*

Creativity

I love the message behind this video. So inspiring!

" Start small. Creativity does not require a brush, a pen, or the keys of a piano. Don't let the voice of the critics paralyze you." ~President Dieter F. Uchtdorf

Monday Inspiration

I've discovered a new website recently. While visiting family my Mom showed me Moda Bake Shop. Once I started looking I was hooked! They have great free tutorials of all kinds. From quilts to toys and clothing. They also sell fabric as well. Yay! Here are a few things that I have on my to-do list.

Aren't these dresses absolutely adorable? If I made these I just might go crazy and make enough for the entire neighborhood. Wouldn't you?

I've seen these around before and wondered where to find the pattern. It was just like Christmas morning for me when I found this. I was so giddy with excitement I couldn't stop smiling. I am defiantly going to make some of these for my daughter. I am so loving the bag for all the pieces too. Brilliant!

Happy Crafting this week!

Vintage Bean Bags

This afternoon I decided to make some beanbags out of thrifted fabric.

They can be stored in this sweet blue basket...
Or tossed around..
or stacked up. Whatever.

Here's just a peak at all the vintage fabric I found. Plus it was already cut out for me, nice huh?
This is just one reason that I like to buy from Goodwill or D.I. ( Utah's version of goodwill)
The total cost:
Fabric about $2 ( All cut into squares already from Goodwill)
Beans: I already had a bunch of dried bean on hand. But they are only a few bucks.

Now go ahead, sew a few dozen.

Happy Easter!

I know that we've already celebrated Easter. But there's no rule that says you can't celebrate the entire month. Right? Here are some of my favorite Easter Crafts.

The other day I came across this tutorial for bunny finger puppets. So while my daughter was sleeping I whipped up a few of these to put in her Easter eggs. Because well, I didn't want to have her on a sugar high all weekend and I knew it would be more fun to open up her eggs and find one of these.

Here's my version of them:

I didn't do the whiskers or the tail but I still think they are adorable. Don't you?

Easter Baskets

Have you seen these tutorials for fabric buckets? They are everywhere! I really love what Jill has done. She's combined different tutorials and put her own twist on them. I just might have to make some of these for my daughter next year.

Easter Peeps

Do you love peeps? Here's a cute neighbor or friend gift. You can download this tag for free here. They also have some other great Easter downloads.

Fabric Easter Eggs

I should have made some of these this year. Plastic eggs just don't last and who wouldn't want to hunt for some of these eggs? I know I would! Plus this is a great way to use up some of your scraps and would make cute decorations. The tutorial can be found here.

Happy Easter!
